CHRISTCHURCH YESTERDAY'S TRANSACTIONS « Markets were more active on call yesterday, and there was a good volume of diversified business with the bulk of the dealings in gold mining shares. Banks, frozen meat, and breweries attracted a moderate turnover. Transactions, exclusive of vestibule business, were:—-

Bank Shares Commercial Bank of Australia were easier at 16s sd, market closing Id on either side. E., S., and A. Bank had business at £4 19s, buyers staying in at that price, sellers at £5. Bank of New Zealand were easier with sellers and dealings at 50s, buyers at 49s lOd. Sellers of Goldsbrough, Morts reduced their limits to 28s, New Zealand Loan and Mercantile' ordinary stock was easier at £46 10s. New Zealand Refrigerating, fully paid, changed hands at 19s 6d, and the 10s paid at 9s sd, 9s 4d, and 9s 6d, and both issues closed firm. Sellers of Gear Meat came down to 22s 3s, buyers at 21s 6d. New Zealand Breweries recovered to 50s 6d, and more were wanted at that price, sellers at 50s Bd. Timaru Brewery, 10s paid, moved up to 12s 6d, buyers staying in at that figure, sellers at 13s 3d. British Tobaccos remained unaltered at 38s Id, closing quotations Id on either side. Broken Hill Proprietary eased to 52s 6d, market closing 3d either way. Mining Brian Borus were easier with sellers and business at sd; buyers at 4d. Goldfields Dredging were a shade easier with buyers and business at Bd, sellers at B£d. King Solomons remained unaltered at 3s lid, and there were further sellers at 3s ll£d, buyers at 3s lOd. Lawson's Flat were firm at 3Jd, market closing 3d buyers, 4d sellers. Maerewhenua had business at ljd, buyers staying in at that price, sellers at 2id. Mahakipawas were firm with buyers and business at lOd, sellers at IOJd. Maori Gully were steady with sellers and business at Is 4d, buyers at Is 3d. Mount Lyells changed hands at 17s lOd and 17s 7d, and there were further buyers at the lower price, sellers at 17s Bd. Nevis Diesel Electric were a shade easier with sellers and dealings at ljd, buyers at l|d, Okaritos, cum dividend, were fractionally firmer at 8s and 8s OJd, market closing 8s buyers, 8s 6d sellers. Rawang Tins were firm with buyers and business at Bs, sellers at 8s 2d. Skippers had dealings at s|d and 6d. and these were buyers and sellers' closing quotations respectively. Unlisted Stocks Argo Gold, Is paid, remained unaltered with dealings and further sellers at Is 6d, buyers at Is s£d. Woolworths (Sydney), ordinary, were firmer at 94s and 92s 6d, and more were offered at the lower price, buyers at 92s 3d.
