ASSISTANCE FOR MAYOR'S FUND WILL OF MR M. F. BARNETT Under the will of Mr Matthew Frank Barnett, a well-known citizen who died on Monday, £IOOO has been set aside to assist the Mayor's Coal and Blanket Fund. The money is to be on trust for 10 years, and the income paid into the fund. At the end of this period it is to be divided among institutions to be nominated by the City Council. The estate of Mr Barnett has been sworn for probate at less than £BO.OOO. Mr Barnett was a generous supporter of the Mayor's Fund, and gave assistance to a large number of institutions and individuals during his lifetime. Apart from his gifts to the city he has .provided legacies for many relatives and friends, after the paying of which the balance will be divided equally among his children, of whom there are six, one son and five daughters.
