ACCOUNTANTS' CONVENTION
FAR-RANGING PREPARATIONS The biggest accountancy convention in New Zealand's history will be held at Auckland from February 18 to 21. During the five years since the previous convention New Zealand, in common with other countries, has been beset by problems which have puzzled many professors, politicians, and other students of the times. Necessarily the accountancy profession has been closely concerned with the various proposals for a recovery of prosperity. Leading members are confident that the special papers prepared for the assembly and the discussions will be helpful in shaping the Dominion's course. The subjects include "Credit Control," "Statistical Interpretation of Accounts," "Company Promotion Methods," "Secondary Industries in New Zealand—Their Possibilities and Limitations," "Scientific Management and its Practical Application to the Development of Secondary Industries in New Zealand," and. "Developments in Accounting Practice." A report received by the executive of the New Zealand Society of Accountants mentions that members of the' Auckland branch are working enthusiastically on various sections of the preparatory work, including a programme of entertainments, and it is anticipated that the convention will be a memorable success, from professional and social viewpoints. I The Commonwealth Institute of Accountants of Australia will be reprei sented by Major L. A. Cleveland, M.C., V.D., F.1.C.A., of Melbourne, and Mr R. D. Brogan, F.1.C.A., of Sydney.
