GENERAL GOERING IN POLAND
< ♦ I SUGGESTED REASONS FOR VISIT ARMS AGREEMENT WANTED (rifITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—BY ELECTMO TELKGHAPH—COPYRIGHT.! (Received January 31, 12.30 a.m.) WARSAW, January 30. Circles in close touch with the Nazis say that General Goering ( ferman Minister for Air) has come here not only to learn the extent to which Poland is ready to agree to the abolition of the section of the Versailles Treaty dealing with German armaments, but to establish contacts with Polish military circles. It is understood that the question of Lithuania also figures in conver-1 sations, and that the hunting party will culminate in a talk with Marshal Pilsudski.
FRENCH DISCUSSIONS IN LONDON COMPROMISE OF SECURITY FEARED WARNING IN CHAMBER (Received January 30, 7.5 p.m.) PARIS, January 29. M. Bouillon, urging that the Chamber of Deputies should debate German rearmament before the French Ministers go to London, accused Great Britain of political short-sightedness. He declared that had she ranged herself on the side of France on July 25, 1914, war would have been avoided. M. Pierre Laval (Foreign Minister) said he and M. Flandin (Premier) would insist on guarantees of security and on the maintenance of adequate French military strength. Doubtless Germany's armaments would also be discussed. M. Bouillon agreed to await the result of the London conversations, but begged M. Laval to make no promises there.
