A DAY'S SHOOTING (By Tommy Kane, 10 years) One fine Sunday morning my father decided to take us out shooting. So we packed bullets, a gun and our lunch ihto the dickey seat of the car and set out for a day's sport. We reached the Rakaia river bed at noon and after we had eaten our lunch we started out to loolj for rabbits and hares. We wjilKed about two miles and theg» foe saw rabbits and hares ruftning in all directions. After .we had been shooting for an hour we had 20 rabbits and 10 hares, having fired .33 shots. We boiled the billy and made some tea, which we all thoroughly enjoyed; then, having made sure that the fir<i was out, we packed up the car again and started for home. Although it was only hall past six when we reached home, we were all so tired that we went straight to bed.
