General Sir Alexander ■ Godley was received with prolonged applause. He gave an interesting talk on various aspects of the war concerning engagements in which'. .the* New Zealand Division took a ent part, notably Gallipoli, the Messines, Passchendaele, and Le Quesnoy. Sir Alexander referred to the fact that during the Gallipoli .cam". paign, Mustapha Kemal pasha, the' present dictator of Turkey, was twice opposed to New Zealand troops when commanding a Turkish division.
