ROYAL FLIGHT ENVELOPES RECEIVED There , was a good attendance of members. at the meeting of the Air Mail Society of New Zealand, held on Tuesday evening. Mr S. J. Russell, the vice-president, was in the chair. During the evening the following new members were elected:—Messrs C. N. Davenport (Auckland), L. Pitman (England), C. V. Downes (Carterton). A letter was received from Miss Rogers, formerly' secretary to Mr C. T. P. Ulm, forwarding 10 of thespecial envelopes carried in the Faith in. Australia on the occasion of the Sight by the Duke of Gloucester in Australia. These envelopes, of which, only 200 are in existence, are autographed by all members of the crew, and ar« being sold for the benefit of Mrs Uim. It was decided to leave the matter in the hands "of the secretary, Mr H. .D. London. The covers are available for members of the association and the public alike. Mrs Ulm also wrote thanking the society for its expression of sympathy in her bereavement The display for the evening was a collection which gained, silver medals at the "Apex" (London) and "VICVI" (Melbourne) exhibitions. The collection, which was exhibited by Mr . and Mrs London, showed by means of envelopes and documents the development of the air mail. The display included specimens of a Paris balloon letter of 1870, pigeon posts of the Great Barrier Island (1898-1907), and first aeroplane mails of Great Britain* and India (19J1), to the Zeppelin, seaplane, glider, autogiro, and rocket posts of the present day. The collection contained also items representative of scientific, exploration, record-breaking, experimental, and emergency flights. ,
