THE WEATHER Warm, clear weather was experienced In the city yesterday. A moderSTbreeze from the south-west in the Burning changed to a light wind from the east in the afternoon. Wellington—The weather was fine, warm, and sultry yesterday; with a flight northerly breeze. At 4 p.m. the temperature was 80.0 degrees, this being the highest temperature during ibi day. Dunedin —Perfect summer weather w» enjoyed yesterday, the sun shining from a cloudless sky. A very light southerly breeze blew, and the maximum temperature was 70 degrees. FORECAST (From readings taken at 4 p.m.) General situation —An anti-cyclone of slight intensity now extends across the Dominion; but a fresh and rather
deep depression has formed over south-eastern Australia. Winds—Light to moderate and variable at first, but soon tending northerly again, and freshening about and south of Cook Strait. Seas (New Zealand waters)— Smooth to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea—Northerly winds, freshening in the southern portion; seas moderate. Weather—Fait to fine, with, rising temperatures; but gradually clouding over in western districts and rain developing to-morrow on the West Coast of the South Island. DOMINION REPORTS * Station.
