THE MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS

0 MAIN ROLL WILL CLOSE TO-DAY The main roll for the municipal will close at the Christchurch City Council offices this afternoon. The elections will be held on May 1, and it appears that there will be an increase in • the number of electors on the roll. The number in 1933 was 47,743. The supplementary roll will remain open until April 3. The average daily enrolments in the last fortnight have been 60. • The CTty Council has not yet received official notification of the advice given by the Minister for Health (the Hon. Sir Alexander Young) that steps would be taken to increase the number of city representatives on the North Canterbury Hospital Board to nine. If the city gains this additional member, it is thought that there will be a reduction in the county representation, for there has been no decision, it is stated, to increase the membership of the board.
