(CONTINUED FROM PAGE 19) WELLINGTON R.C. PROGRAMME FOR - TO-MORROW The autumn meeting of the Wellington Racing Club will be opened at Trentham to-morrow. The fields are not so large as on previous occasions, but the material is up to the usual high standard produced on this course. The track is expected to be in good order, following a system «pf artificial watering for the last few * weeks and a fall of rain on Saturday. The win and place system of speculation will again be in use. The programme will be carried out as under; 12.15 i».m. — TREN'THAM 11IUH-WLIGHT HANDICAP, of 200 sovs. One mile. t.t. lb. »t. lb. pj»«J Rul'ut> J<> 8 Knock Out 910 liatro Tonu 10 5 Palatinate .. 910 pombcv 10 5 Round Score <J 9 Tin! Speculation, in consequence, will be widely distributed, and the best supported may be Dombey. Knock Out, and Haere Tonu. 12.57 j.m.— VELLIN'GTOX STAKES for two and three-year-olds. The younger division is strongly represented by Galilee, Bun Fight, Penelope, and Pakanui, and Variant, Emissary, Limulus, Burnish, Mother Superior, and Colombo may be the best of the three-year-olds. A keen contest can be anticipated, and the final issue may rest between Galilee, Variant/and Bun Fight. S.B» j>.m.— APPRENTICES PLATE, of 200 bovs. Hack conditions. Seven furlongs. st. lb. at. lb. Choice of riders plays an important part in the decision of the race, and most investors usually await the posting of the jockeys' board before making their decisions. Several of the candidates have recent credentials suggesting success, these including Heather Glow, Hunting Bag, Capital, Hosiis. Horotiu, Dark Red, Cawbeen, Jubilee Song, and Palm. No doubt * the placed division will be confined to Jubilee Song, Capital, and Heather Glow. 2.20 p-JJ*. — MTZHEBBBRT HANDICAP, of 200 sovs. Five furlongs. »t. lb. st. lb. Vintage will be attempting a weight-carrying feat only rarely accomplished at Trentham. but it has to be said that he is a class horse and is capable of shouldering big burdens. His form at Ellerslie, apart from that in the Auckland Cup, ia which he met with serious trouble, was that of an outstand- : ing galloper, and his work since has even been more satisfactory than that thown before going to Ellerslie. Gay Marigold has been a very consistent , place-getter this season and is due for a win. Grand Jury won this race 12 months ago, and his recent form suggest* that he is on the way back to that form. Bed Manfred is likely to be troubled once more by the distance. Spiral ran a sound race in the Cup last year, and but for suffering from a bad run would have troubled the winner. Cuddle is a brilliant galloper and won the Marton Cup, over two furlongs less, in fast time. Whether *he can carry on for another quarter of a mile has to be proved. Tout le Monde made amends for many disappointments by his success in the Manawatu Cup and the President's Handicap at Awapuni, but in the face of his failures later on the northern i trip he has still to be taken on trust. ' Of the remainder. Rocket and Silver t" Sight have both to be regarded as * place posibilities. There is no doubt ; Vintage will be favourite, and the * next in demand will probably be , Grand Jury and Cuddle. 8.48 p.m.— RUAPOIU HACK HANDICAP, of 200 sovs. Six furlorigs. it. lb. st. lb. Fracas has a big weight, but she is a sturdy filly and is very well just now. Kemal Pasha is also in good order, while Some Shamble has shown improvement in his recent track essays. Cherry King will have a large northern following, while Great Star's forward running at Ellerslie cannot be overlooked. Cyclonic and Trivet can also be recommended, the latter especially being very speedy up to a mile journey. This should be the closest race of the day, and the final. summing up may be; in favour of Fracas, Great Star, and Some Shamble.
