SHORTHAND WRITERS' ASSOCIATION
* EXAMINATION RESULTS The secretary of the Christchurch Shorthand Writers' Association has been advised by Pitman's examination department, Melbourne, that the following pupils of Digby's Commercial School and the Avonside Girls' High School have been successful in gaining Pitman's first-class speed and theory certificates as a result of a shorthand examination held under the auspices of the association in December last:— Digby's Commercial School—Speed certificates, 150 words a minute: Patricia L. Cairns; 100 words a minute, Edith French, Zoe Grover; 60 words a minute, Veronica M. Barnes, Lorna Coe, Marjory W. Keane, Percy F. King; 70 words a minute, Dorothy M. L. Gates. Theory certificates: Agnes Anderson, Hazel Battersby, Neroli McClatchie, Ina Owen, Jean M. Redman, Thelma M. Rickard. Avonside Girls' High School —Speed certificates: 100 words a minute, Helen Cant; 80 words a minute, Rita Dixon, Norma Hutchings; 60 words a minute, Patricia Townsend. Eighteen candidates sat for the examination, all of whom passed.
