SINGING LED BY NAVY BAND

MONEY RAISED FOR PICNIC FOR CHILDREN More than £3O was collected at the community singing conducted by the band of H.M.A.S. Australia yesterday in the Civic Theatre. The gathering was arranged by the Canterbury Unemployed Workers' Association to raise funds for the picnic for reiW workers' children, which will be held on January 26. So many attended that latecomers were unable to gain admission. The Mayor, Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P., thanked the players for their assistance and Captain W. S. F. Macleod, of H.M.A.S. Australia, for granting permission for the band to attend. Leading Aircraftsman W. Bradley led the singing and Dr. F. A'Court was the pianist.
