SEARCH FOR MISSING TRAMPER

SEVEKAL PARTIES OIT (I'K&SS ASSOCIATION TKI.KGBAM.) I CARTERTON. January 18. j No further developments have oc- j curred in the search for the missing j camper, Harold P. Goodman, of Grey- j town, who is five clays overdue from a ! trip up the Waiohine gorge in thej Tararua range. Search parties have been dispatched from the Tararua and Wairarapa Tramping Clubs and are expected to converge on to Cone Hut after traversing Mount Holdsworth. Totara j Flat, and the southern areas. j A small party left Carterton and Grey 1 own to-day and others are expected to leave during the week-end from other parts of the district. If Goodman is found flares will be sent up from Cone Hut, although these will be difficult to see because of smoke from scrub fires. The radio emergency corps has established a base at Cone Hut and will transmit short-wave messages from time to time. The weather in the ranges is windy and visibility is hampered by smokir.ess. Goodman had a rifle, plenty of ammunition, and sufficient food to last him about three weeks. He was expected back last week-end.
