REVOLUTION IN ALBANIA
REPORT FROM GREECE | KING ZOG SAID TO BE WOUNDED ATHENS, January 2. It is reported that King Zog of Albania was wounded by a bomb explosion at the palace at Tirana, where revolutionaries are fighting with loyal troops. OFFICIAL DENIAL TIRANA, January 2. It is officially stated that the reports of a disturbance in Albania are without foundation. [Albania has a troubled history. Its independence was proclaimed in 1912 and Prince William of Wied accepted the crown. His reign was short-lived. After the war the Albanians fought both Italy and Jugoslavia to maintain their independence. In 1925 the country was declared a republic, which continued until 1928. The country then became a monarchy again and Ahmed Beg Zogu, hereditary chieftain of the Mati clan, and president of the republic since 1925, was proclaimed king.]
