♦ CONVERSATIONS COVER WIDE RANGE (BRITISH OFFICIAL WIRLLESS.) (Received December 25, 7.5 p.m.) RUGBY, December 24. Sir John Simon (Foreign Secretary) arrived yesterday at Cannes, where he will spend Christmas. Concerning his conversations in Paris with M. Laval (French Foreign Minister), the French newspapers state that the questions reviewed included the Saar plebiscite, the projected Eastern ' European Pact, the rearmament of Germany, the Franco-Italian negotiations, the situation in the Danube countries, and the abrogiation of the Washington Naval Treaty. In view of the wide range of the conversations only the barest review of the questions was undertaken, and there was no question of decisions or even discussions on the basis of a definite, programme.
