THREAT OF GENERAL STRIKE
NORTHERN TERRITORY WAGE REDUCTIONS (Received December 25, 7.20 p.m.) DARWIN, December 24. A general strike of railway, wharf, pastoral and mine workers is threatened in the Northern Territory at the beginning of the year because of the reduction in the basic wage from £4 16s 3d to £4 10s vd under an award of the Arbitration Court just announced. About .'SOO men are involved. It has also been decided to demand the restoration of 1929 conditions, when the basic wage was £'s 10s a week.
