TRAP SHOOTING
CHRISTCHURCH GUN CLUB ANNUAL CHRISTMAS MATCHES A successful afternoon was held by the Christ church Gun Club on tlio Sockburn grounds, when the annual Christmas matches were shot off. The weather was sultry and a bad light, together with a moderately strong wind, made shooting difficult. Thirty shooters participated in the afternoon's event and there were a fair number of visitors. Four matches were hold of nine clay birds each off handicap marl;*, prize-winners in each match being penalised in the following matches: First prize, 4 yards; second prize, 3 yards; third p;rije. 2 yards; and others, 1 "yard. All possibles were shot off, shooters going back two yards after each break An aggregate prize of a largo Christmas cake for the highest total over the four matches was won by John Brightling with :>4 breaks out of a possible 30.
