SHOPLIFTERS SENT TO GAOL
IPKESS ASSOCIATION TELEGBAM.) AUCKLAND, December 22. Shoplifters have been exceptionally active this week during the Christmas rush. Two who were caught yesterday were handed over to the police and, with a third who was previously remanded, were sentenced to-day. Eliza Margaret Hilda Collings, aged 48, who had been previously convicted, and James St. Clair Williamson, aged 30, a salesman, were sentenced to three months' imprisonment. George Dufty, aged 32, a steel worker, who had never been in trouble before, was fined £5.
