Something New in Sand Castles A MOSQUE
The difficulty and fun in the game of building a mosque in the sand is in seeing how higli you can build the minarets. The best way is,to use a baking powder tin with the bottom pushed out. (Cutting will leave jagged edges and spoil the smooth walls of the minaret.) When the base and dome of the mosque have been made the prepared tin should be stood on
one corner and filled with damp sand. A long, fairly straight stick is then pushed down the centre (shown in the illustration). A few notches in the stick help the sand to grip it. The tin can can then be gradually raised and more damp sand patted on. The height the minaret will reach depends on the consistency of the sand, palience, and a steady hand.
