THE WELSH CLUB
CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS The Christmas meeting and song service of the Welsh Club were held at the Young Men's Christian Association on Saturday evening, when there was a good attendance of members. The coming of Father Christmas (Mr Hugh Williams) was heralded in Welsh, and before the presents were distributed from the tree, a carol was sung in honour of his visit. Short addresses were given by Miss Anthony and Mr A. A. Evans, and greetings were read from country members, including one from the patron of the club, Mr Owen Jones, of Hawera. The chairman, Mr Wynn Owen, extended the season's greetings to all present, commending the happy spirit of the gatherings of the year, and asking the children to assist in carrying on the ideal and the traditions which prompted the formation of the Welsh Club and the song service. Among the prize winners in the novelty games were Misses Pearl Evans, Olwen Griffiths, Masters Alan .Roberts, David Mcßurney, Peter Griffiths, Bill Hook and David Williams.
