The announcement that the Hawera Aero Club was prepared to spend £6OOO on a new aerodrome was made at a meeting of the Hawera Borough Council this week, when the question of the council's assistance was discussed. It was decided to approach the proper authorities for legislation permitting the council or a successor to enter into an arrangement binding itself and future councils to an annual contribution of up to £2OO for up to 10 years.
