WATER SUPPLY SCHEME CITY COUNCIL'S DECISION (SPXCULt* SO THE PEJSS.) NELSON, December 21. In accordance with notice given pre. viously, Councillor S. A. Gibbs at last night's meeting of the City Council moved that reports on the progress of tfhe preparation of Roding wafer scheme be presented to the council every two weeks. Councillor Gibbs said the public was entitled to know what was being done, and such reports would keep councillors conversant with the details of the scheme. The motion waj carried. The council during the meeting adopted the following report from the committee meeting of the council, at which the proposed water scheme was discussed: —"That on the completion of the engineer's water scheme, and estimates of the same be forwarded to the consulting engineer with a request that he report thereon with the utmost expedition and visit Nelson to confer with the council.if necessary." Personal At the conclusion of business at last night's meeting of the City Coun. cil, councillors made a presentation to flhe Mayor (Mr W. J. Moftatt). in expressing the esteem and confidence of the councillors. Councillors G. L, Page and S. H. Moynagh paid a •tribute to the keen interest taken in the affairs of the city by the Mayor Councillor Page expressed the keen appreciation by the councillors of the kindness and courtesy extended to them during the year. They knew the intense interest displayed by Mr Moffatt in all matters in the interests of the city. By his kindness and courtesy he had endeared himself to them all, and the councillors honoured him for his honesty of purpose. | Dr. L. J. Parton, who was recently appointed assistant medical officer at Nelson Hospital, commenced his duties yesterday. Dr. Parton, accompanied by his wife, arrived from Wellington < this week. He is a son of Mr and Mrs W. A. Parton, of Wellington. ! Dr. F. W. J-iang, who has been-re- | lieving house surgeon at the hospital j for the last two months, has returned to Auckland.
