NEW SOUTH WALES CHAMPIONSHIPS PERRY AND CRAWFORD IN FINAL ' MUS WESTMACOTT BEATS MISS HARTIGAN (ÜBITEU I'HESS ASSOCIATION—BT ELECTRIC TELEGKAPU—COPTBIGHT.) A feature of to-day's play in the New South Wales tennis championships, which were continued in hot weather, was the elimination of the Australian women's singles champion, Miss Hartigan. at the hands of the tall Queensland player, Mrs Westmacott. Results: — Men's Singles Semi-finals Crawford beat Hopman, 8-6, 0-6, 6-4, 6-3. Perry beat Quist, 6-3, 6-1, 6-3. Women's Singles Semi-finals Mrs Westmacott beat Miss Hartigan, 7-5, 6-4. Miss Round beat Miss Lyle, 7-5, 6-3. Men's Doubles Quarter-finals Hopman and Maier beat Menzel and Moon. 6-3, 6-2. 8-6. Kirby and Quist beat Dunlop and Donohcc, 6-4, 6-2, 7-5. Crawford and McGrath beat Thompson and Moore, 6-4, 6-4, 6-1. Perry and Hughes beat Walker and Sproule, 6-4, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4. Women's Doubles Quarter-finals Mrs Westmacott and Mrs Molesworth beat Misses Dingle and Coyne, 4-6, 0-3. 6-2. , L . . Misses Hartigan and Bickerton beat Misses Hatters!.y and Selwin, 5-7, 7-5, 6-1. ,_ . Miss Round and Mrs Hopman beat Misses Chrystal and Garlick, 6-0, 8-6. Misses Dearman and Lyle beat Misses Chitty and Blick, 6-1, 6-1. The game between Crawford and Hopman was a poor match and unimpressive. Perry was in superb form. His strokes were so well concealed that he frequently left Quist standing when advancing to the net. Perry, on the other hand, was never out of position. Regulations for the reinstatement of professionals anxious to regain amaUur status were discussed at the quarterly meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association this evening, and the following rules were laid down. Each case will be considered on its merits and every application must be submitted through an affiliated association. The management committee must be satisfied of the conduct of the applicant during I the time he was a professional. The j applicant before reinstatement must cease all professional activities for a period considered reasonable by the management committee and commensurate with the circumstances of his individual case.
