SOCIAL EVENING A pleasant evening was spent at the residence of Mr and Mrs H. Osmond, when a card party was given, the proceeds from which were devoted to the Anglican bazaar funds. The winner was Mrs W. Sabiston, who tied with Mrs E. J. Williams, and won in the play-off. Euchre Parties At the suburban hall on Tuesday night the winners were Mrs E. Dabinette and Mr P. Brand. The aggregate prizes were won by Mrs Dabinette and Mr H. Toombs, and the prizes for most points secured by players not having won a prize went to Miss D. Chapman and Messrs J. Eaton, and B. Boyd (equal). At the band room on Tuesday evening the winners were Mrs A. B. Clark and Mr L. Shannon. Accident at Power-house Mr S. Sharpe, an assistant at the power-house, met with an accident on Tuesday evening, necessitating his removal to the hospital. Mr Sharpe was descending a ladder leading from the producer, when apparently he slipped and struck his head. He was discovered by Mr L. Sabiston in an unconscious condition. Grange Road School Whilst members of the Canterbury Education Board were in Kaikoura, a site was chosen for a new school on the Grange road Education Reserve. The building will be of the open-air class, and will be 18 feet by 12 feet. The Weather Very 'ict days have been experienced since Saturday, and the gardens and lawns are showing signs of the heat and dryness. Water for domestic purposes is running short. Visitors to Kaikoura The following former residents of the district are at present paying holiday visits to relatives in Kaikoura:—Mr and Mrs Arthur Oldman (Nelson), Mr Peter Burnett (Christchurch), Mr and Mrs C. McPherson (Oamaru), and Mrs R. Little (Hastings) Lodge Meeting The quarterly meeting of the Loyal Heart of Oak Lodge, 1.0.0. F., M.U., •was held on Tuesday night, Bro. G. J. Nilsen, ' N.G. presiding.
