ROSE SHOW
FIXTURE AT KAIAPOI The annual rose show, organised by St. Bartholomew's Church, Kaiapoi, was held in the Orange Hall yesterday afternoon and evening. It was well attended at both sessions. There was an excellent display of roses and other flowers, satisfactory entries being received in most of. the sections. Points for the championship cup presented to the competitor with most points in the flower section were gained as follows:—Mr J. L. Stead (Ouruhia) 27, Mrs G. Collister 17, Mr J. Hirst 10£. Mrs F. H. Griffiths 9, Eev. C. L. Sparrow 9, Mrs J. Anderson 8. Special prizes given by Mr F. Jones (Christchurch) for most , points, were won by Mr J. L. Stead in the flower section and Mr J. Hirst in vegetable section. The floral and vegetable exhibits were judged by Mr F. Jones, the heedlework section by Mesdames L. B.- Evans and W. H. Keetley, the home
industries section by Mrs F. Cox, and the children's exhibits by Mr D. G. Wilson (Tuahiwi). The following were in charge of the stalls:—Sweets, Mrs J. S. Baker; pot plants, Mr J. H. Mealings; cake, Mesdames E. Wilson and L. Burgess; and a novelty stall was conducted by the girls' club. The awards were as follows: ROSES AND CUT FLOWERS Twelve distinct varieties of roses: .7. H.
