A suggestion that now the depression had gone the men of New Zealand should brighten themselves up by wearing buttonholes of flowers was made by Mrs Knox Gilmer, at the opening of the Wellington Horticultural Society's rose show yesterday. It was needless to say, she added, that all through recent years the women had been bright. "The habit of men wearing buttonholes will have my warmest support," said the Mayor, Mr T. C. A. Hislop, speaking later.
