"BELSHAZZAR"

ROYAL CHRISTCHUBCH MUSICAL SOCIETY On Wednesday next, at the Civic Theatre, the Royal Christchurch Musical Society will give music-lovers the opportunity of hearing Handel's "Belshazzar," which, being based on the story of the siege of Babylon and the feast of Belshazzar, contains much magnificent music. Although composed nearly 200 years ago "Belshazzar" is appreciated as much as ever. The libretto itself is worthy of close study. The choir and orchestra have been well trained by the conductor, Mr A. G. Thompson, 11.A.8., and should make the performance a splendid one. The soloists, Miss Lillian Hanham, Mr H. J. Francis, and Mr John Thompson, are all eminently suited to their parts. As a full house is anticipated, patrons are advised to book their seats at the D.I.C. .
