The action of the Cambridge Racing Club in requiring patrons to park their cars within the racecourse enclosure at its last meeting at a charge of 2s was referred to by the Waikato County Council's traffic inspector, Mr W. E. Nicholson, at a meeting of the council this week. Mr Nicholson said he found that the secretary of the club had put up notices along No. 2 Station road, Cambridge, for half a mile back from the entrance of the course, stating that parking was prohibited. The secretary had also placed a man on duty to direct motorists to park their vehicles in the club's grounds at a charge of 2s a car. Motorists asked him (the inspector) if the club could prohibit the parking of their cars on the grass at the side of the road. It looked as though trouble would arise, so he interviewed the secretary of the club, and finally the notices were removed and the man was withdrawn. Mr Nicholson said that there was no authority for the prohibition of parking on any country road unless the road was undergoing repairs.
