MEMORY OF FORMER SCHOOL PUPIL HONOURED (PRESS ASSOCIATION TEI.EQ.BAV.> OAMARU, November 13. At the Oamaru South School to-day a memorial tablet was unveiled to the memory of Mr Charles John Connell, who lost his life in attempting to save his two companions from drown"s at Long Point last January. Mr Connell was a former pupil of the South School, and reference was made to his gallant action by Mr J. Branthwafte, chairman of the school committee, Mr D. A. McPherscn (headmaster), and the Mayor. Mr M. F. C( Thr'tablet was unveiled by Miss McNaught. who taught Mr Connell, and Mr J. Wallace, the chairman of the Otago Education Board, accepted the memorial on behalf of the board.
