♦ | LECTURE BY .MISS MARGARET MURNEY GLENN A lecture entitled "Christian Science: The Revelation of Love as Divine Principle." was given at the Crystal Palace Theatre last night by Miss Margaret Murney Glenn, C.5.8., a member of the board of lectureship of the Fust Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston. Christian Science, said Miss Glenn, brought the comforting assurance to all men that there was a correct solution to every problem, whether the problem was one of human relationship, sickness, sorrow, lack, temperamental weaknesses, or sin. Christian Science was based on the Bible, the very first verse of which indicated God's nature as divine Principle. It stated, "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." The word "principle" came from a Latin root, meaning the beginning, and in several Latin texts of the Bible this verse read, "In Principle, God created the heaven and the earth." The name Principle for God i revealed Him as the beginning, or primal cause of all creation. , "Even as music expresses the principle of harmony," said Miss Glenn, "so man expresses the divine Principle of harmonious being." Because the musician had the evidence of a discord on the music-sheet before his eyes, and because he heard that discord, he did not conclude that it was real, or a part of music. He corrected what he saw and heard physically with what he understood of harmony. This is what the Christian Scientist did, and he did it constantly. The view of love as principle need not seem strange, cold, or distant, for when it was analysed it was found that this name best expressed one's ideal of love. When two or more individuals understood and practised the same principle they understood or loved each other, and this was true unity. Mrs Mary Baker Eddy, the discoverer and founder of Christian Science, not only discovered, but proved, that love was the divine principle of man, and that man's individuality reflected the wisdom, love, health, and science of this principle.
