The correspondents agree that the Government victory is not yet final. ipj,e official socialist leaders are arrested, dead, or fleeing, but new leaders have .allied the socialist forces in Madrid, where a struggle for the northern railway station is going on. The revolt in the capital was based on the belief that the Barcelona venture was certain to succeed, but there was a general collapse directly the Barcelona plans failed. "The Times" says: "The consequences of the victory of the Lerroux Government are of greater importance than the dramatic events at the week-end. Spain now has a Government with a majority of the Cortes. Senor Lerroux's statements justify the hope that the Government will not gratuitously provide the opposition with martyrs. Clemency combined with readiness for political compromise may give Spain a more stable regime than she has j enjoyed since the fall of the monarchy."
