SOUTH ISLAND ASSOCIATION j A meeting o>: the South Island Poultry, Pigeon, and Canary Association I was held last evening, Mr G. H. Brad- [ ford, president, presiding and there were also present: Messrs R. Pearce 1 ( secretary), J. D. Gobbe. R. Thomson. H. A. Boynes, C. Bull, H. Pearson. ' The Association dealt with the appointment of judges of the poultry section at the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association's Show. Tt was decided that unless the Canterbur; Agricultural and Pastoral Association appointed the judges nominated by th» council the South Island PouStrv Association would withdraw their noiv - inations of judges. It was also decided that the executive wait on the secretary of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association and point out the difference in appointing judges nominated by specialist clubs, instead of nominated by the council. "fen championship certificates were allotted for the 1935 South Island shows. It was decided to place on the agenda paper a remit to apply to the Government for an art union to be run at the different poultry shows in 1935. The secretary was instructed to write f o the different clubs for suggestions as to the manner in which the victory Shield should be awarded at the next show. iA deputation consisting of Messrs Hawkins and Wheeler, of the Rangier* Poultry Club, waited on the Association to discuss the breach which had occurred between the Canary Club and the association. It was stated that the Canary Club had decided to withdraw . from the association because it had . not been able to get a reduction in the » entry fees for the Christchurch Pot:!- '. try, Pigeon, and Canary Club, and r also because they were able to hold 3 a Canary show separate from the ars nual show of any affiliated club. s After considerable discussion it wa.- = decided to leave the matter in the \ hands of the Rangiora Club to apt proach the Canary Club and see what . agreement they were prepared :•-> j come to.
