CHANGES IN THE BYLAWS
1 CONTROL OF CYCLE TRAFFIC A resolution embodying many important changes in the by-laws was confirmed by the City Council last evening. The resolution was adopted at the last meeting of the council, and the changes are included in a new bylaw which will be known as No. 19. The by-law makes, among others, the following provisions:—ln future bicycles must have at least one efficient brake and bicyclists must not ride more than two abreast; any motor-vehicle left unattended over a time limit may be jjemoved by a traffic inspector or a policeman; no driver of a licensed vehicle may be in charge of it for more than 14 hours in one day; taxi fares shall be in accordance with a fixed scale; drivers of vehicles may not alight from the right-hand or oft-side without first giving adequate indication of that intention; all houses must display correct street numbers; and verandahs erected in the city in future must be without posts. The control and licensing of street musicians are also provided for.
