The course proper was open 50 feet out from the rails, and the going was holding. Lord, Val, Wee Pat. and Thespis •were associated over a round in 2min 14 4-ssec, the lari six furlongs in lmin 24 l-ssec. Lord Val finished two lengths in front of Wee Pat, with Thespis about a length away. Grand Sport went half a mile in 56 1-asec comfortably. Kelly, On Parade, and Killadar were in that order at the end of six furlongs, in lmin 24sec. All worked well. covered the last six furlongs of his work in lmin 23 2-ssec, hitting out nicely at the finish. Trevace went very freely while covering half a mile in 54 l-ssec. Sporting Blood did a similar task in 58 2-ssec. He went well.

Gold Pocket and Sporting Song finished in front of Sir Val at the end of six furlongs in lmin 28 4-ssec, and was under restraint at the finish.

Psychologist went five furlongs in lmin, 3 4-ssec, doing it nicely. The best six .furlongs of the morning was credited to King Musk, Variant, and Gay Marigold, who, after running three furlongs in 39 3-ssec,

got to the end of the task in lmin il.isec. They finished as named. Killing King and Chief Emerald covered half a mile in 55 4-ssec, being fmuul, on terms at the finish.

Gains/id and Royal Uncage both worked well, covering the last seven lurlongs in lmin 38 3-ss-.ee. After breakfast Kiltowyn ran six furlongs in lmin 22sec. doing it well. Chief Cook and Jaeldy Karo went a similar distance in lmin 23 4-sscc. fm-i:-hing together.

Baroscope and Lady Diana ran five liu'lcngs in lmin Bsec, hitting out nicely. Chromadync iFergus). Ardiv.anning i Baker), and Absent (Sharkey) were sent round the steeplechase country. All jumped well, and were practically togathcr at the finish. AV. Rayncr arrived from Wanganui this morniiv' with Spiral, Burnish, Pcinp, and Canopy. H. Rama returned •with Horowhenua and Free Air.
