The building is ready for occupation, but owing to the wet weather the asphalt paths round the school have not sufficiently hardened, and it was deemed inadvisable to open the the school in the meantime. The children are accommodated in several halls in the township. Steam-heated Cars The first of the steam-heated cars on the West Coast-Christehurch evening goods trains commenced running last evening. However, the average for August was 25, while there have been occasions when 40 persons have made the trip. Another convenience for passengers travelling by the goods train from Christchurch to the West Coast is that they will board the train on the main Christchurch platform, instead of having to make their way across the goods yard to where the train is usually made up. | Trout Fishing Yesterday Mr Harold Holmes, of Cowper street, took a fine bag of brown trout from the lower waters of the Grey river, the largest of the fish turning the scale at (>','lb.
