Mr D. E. Parton. president of the Christchurch branch of the Young Men's Christian Association, returned from Wellington yesterday morning.
Mr \V. F. Blackwell was elected president of the Canterbury Employers' Association at a special meeting of the executive of the association held yesterday afternoon Messrs A. E. Kincaid and C. W. Hervey were elected vice-president?, of the Canterbury Employers' Association at a special meeting of tho executive of (he association held yesterday.
A motion of sympathy with the relatives of Mr W. Ballantync was passed at the meeting last night of the Upper Riccarlon Fire Board.
The Vcn. Archdeacon Kimberley (Commissary of the Diocese of Nelson) has been notified that in addition to the Primate of New Zealand and the Archbishop of Sydney, a'l the other Bishops in New Zealand will take part in the consecration of the Rev. Canon Hilliard as Bishop of Nelson on October 28.
Captain H. White-Parsons, harbourmaster at Napier, has received advice that the Lords of the Admiralty have decided to present him with one of the bells of H.M.S. Veronica as a permanent memento of the assistance given by him in the passage of the Veronica from the inner harbour at Napier after the earthquake in 1931.—Press Association.
