While he was engaged in erecting outbuildings to the homestead of a farm where the telephone was installed, he writes. the animal kept close to his master. Its hearing was so keen that on the first tinkle of the telephone 70 yards distant from the house, it ran quickly to the instrument, the whole while barking and looking round to see whether he was coming. The i'ame dog sensed a few minuter beforehand when the timber truck was' arriving v. i'h the building material. and in variably made its way up the road to meet it.
