OBITUARY
MR SALVATORE CIMINO (FIiESS ASSOCIATION TH LEG BAM./ WELLINGTON, October 2. The death has occurre I of Mr Salvatcre Cimino, aged 81. He was well known in musical circles and took an active part in the Savage Club's orchestra. Mr Cimino at one time was in business on his own account as a music dealer, and from 1396 until 1911 he was the local manager of Charles Eegg and Company. He was highly esteemed and respected for his personal qualities and his ability as a musician, MR DAVID MCKENZIE (PRESS ASSOCIATION TEi.EG.RA;: j WELLINGTON, October 2. By the death early this evening oC Mr David McKenzie, Mayor of Petone, at the age of 67, the Hull Valley has lost one of its most prominent and energetic public figures. Mr McKenzie came to New Zealand from Scotlan I in 1888, and even in those early days, as a worker in the Pelone woollen mills, he took a keen interest in local politics. He later joined the Government railway workshops, where he remained until he was superannuated 30 years later.

The death has occurred at Los Angeles of Sir John Adams, M.A., B.Sc, LL.D., F.C.P., a prominent English educationist, who visited New Zealand some years ago. Born at Glasgow 77 years ago, Sir John graduated from the University of Glasgow. For 20 years from 1902 he was principal cf the London Day Training College and professor of education at the University of London. He was the author of several books on educational subjects, and also contributed to educational and other magazines. Retiring in 1922 he became professor emeritus of the University of London. Shortly afterwards he went to the United States and lectured on education at the Harvard, Vale, and Princeton Universities and the University of California. , „ T In 1925 Sir John visited New Zealand, Australia, and South Africa, and undertook lecture tours on behalf ot the respective governments. On his return to the United Stales he continued to lecture at the four umversifies, end resided m Los Angeles. Ho retired about a year ago. Sir John is survived by Lady Adams. There is no family.
