CHALLENGER PRAISED BY PRESS SOI'WITir.S TRIBUTE TO PUBLIC [ '.'iT'tl'lAf. IP ri.V,-..-RUGBY, September 26. American yachting experts insist that the Endeavour w ;!S faster boat, but that the defender, the Rainbow, was better handled. The Endeavour was manner! by amateurs who had less experience in working together, although Sopwith is full of praise for them. Observers say that the Endeavour lost much time compared with the Rainbow. in sail-changing. Sopwith's withdrawal ot his protest against the Rainbow in yesterday's race i.s acclaimed in the American press as a chivalrous gesture, which will prevent a protracted controversy. Sopwith pays a warm tribute to the sporting attitude of the American public, who, he says, gave all in the Endeavour a woncerful ana touching reception.
