MORE DAYS IN THE SUN
Many Sporting Activities Begin
CHRISTCHURCH AT ITS BEST
Of the four seasons, probably none is looked forward to more than the spring. Most people realise this without thinking deeply about it, but it needs weather such as has been experienced on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week before the full charm of a typical spring day, as yesterday afternoon was, is appreciated. The season appeals to the younger people more particularly because it means the beginning of some months of pleasant associations in sport. Many tastes are catered for. Cricket and tennis draw the big-
gest followings, but great interest is taken in bowling, swimming, athletics, surfing, rowing, sailing, and croquet.
Perhaps one of its greatest virtues is the abundance of sunlight, with pleasant temperatures, and moderate rainfall. The most fertile of the seasons, to many people it shows Ghristchurch to the greatest advantage. With its gardens, trees, and its graceful river, Ghristchurch presents a picture which, in its way, cannot be excelled in the Dominion and fairly merits the title of "Garden City."
