FLIGHT TO BERLIN AND BACK

| «—_ | SIR THOMAS WILFORD PLEASED (FROM OUB OWK COREESFONDEKT.) LONDON, August 23. Sir Thomas Wilford recently made the journey to Berlin and back by air—an experience that greatly delighted him. He breakfasted in Berlin and reached London before luncheon; by ordinary methods of travel by land and sea the time taken is more than 19 hours. Sir Thomas made both journeys in a Luft Hansa machine, which on the return trip took four hours direct to Amsterdam and Croydon, crossing the North Sea for about 200 miles and sighting land at Chatham.

The trip was undertaken by Sir Thomas on behalf of certain oil interests in the City of London. In this connexion he had interviews with Baron von Neurath (Foreign Minister), and Dr. H. Schacht (President of the Reichsbank and Minister for Commerce and Industry). The trip, which occupied a week, was at the time of President von Hindenburg's funeral. Sir Thomas was present at the Foi'eign Office and heard Herr Hitler's funeral oration and also General Goeririg's speech, on the day before the funeral.
