BROWN TROUT RELEASED Mr W. E. Richardson advises that of the 10,000 brown trout dispatched from the Canterbury Acclimatisation Society's Greenpark hatchery, about 50 per cent, died and the remainder were liberated in the Lyell Creek stream. Further supplies are required for the Kahautara stream. Workers'' Educational Association At the weekly session of the Workers' Educational Association, the reading of G. K. Munro"s two-act play, "The Rumour," was completed. Mrs C. A. Jensen was the leader. Mr J. Johnston, Workers' Educational Association tutor, of Canterbury College, will attend the circle next week, and in addition to discussing next year's programme, will read two one-act plays. Occasion was taken to say good-bye to Mr and Mrs E. J. Watts, who left for the north yesterday. Hapnka Hall A meeting convened at Hapuku to consider appointing trustees to control the hall was sparsely attended, and no finality was reached. A meeting of the committee will be held on Monday night to consider what further steps are to be taken. The hall has been without an owner for many years. Rainfall The rainfall for the three days ended 9 a.m. Wednesday, at Kaikoura, was 2.79 inches. For the same period at Hanuku. seven miles north of the township, the fall was 4.26 in, 3.l6Tri falling for the 24 hours ended Wednesday morning.
