DEFEAT OF THE ALL BLACKS
TO TOT BDITO* O* THE PJIBSS. Sir,—lt must have been with great regret that New Zealand Rugby enthusiasts read the comments of the All Blacks' manager on his return to New Zealand concerning the rulings of the Australian referees. Surely it would have been more sportsmanlike and certainly in better taste for any expressions of dissatisfaction to have been voiced in Australia, where perhaps the position could have been remedied, if the statements made are correct. Instead of that New Zealand is greeted with the suggestion that the major defeats of the All Blacks were due to unfair rulings and questionable tactics, which suggestion, in the opinion of the writer, neither excuses defeat nor proves the All Blacks to be what every sportsman would wish —good losers.—Yours, etc., SOUR GRAPES. August 30, 1934.
