BROADCAST CONCERTS FOR CHARITY
ifo'" "— 1 FAMOUS ARTISTS ENGAGED A scries of charity concerts lias been arranged by the New Zealand Broadcasting Board to be held in the four centres during the next few months. Among the distinguished artists who will take part in them will be Elsa Stralia, the Australian soprano, Margharita Zelanda, the New Zealand singer, and M. Senia Chostlakofl, the former member of the Don Cossack choir, whose contract with the board has been extended to October 15. _ The first concert will be given in Christchurch on September 18. m which Margharita Zelanda will take part with other artists. Another will be given in Wellington c September 22, and a third in Christchurch on September 26, which will include number - by a large choir. All the concerts will be broadcast and the proceeds handed over to charity. M. Chostiakoff hrs also been engaged to appeal* at the Regent Theatre on Satu-day and during the following week. He will sing at the afternoon and evening sessions, being accompanied by a strinj qusrtet in the evenings.
