BAD EGGS

w OBSTACLE TO TRADE "The greatest obstacle to increasing our trade in New Zealand is the bad egg," stated Mr W. Turner, at a meeting last evening of the Woolston branch of the New Zealand Poultry Producers' Federation. As a result of Mr Turner's remarks the following motion was passed by the meeting: "That the New Zealand Poultry Board has the unanimous support of the Woolston branch of the New Zealand Poultry Producers' Federation, in their efforts to tighten up the regulations so that inferior eggs may be eliminated from the New Zealand market." One speaker at the meeting asserted that many of the inferior eggs came in from the country districts. Unfortunately the shops sold such eggs at low prices, and these prices tended to govern the market at times. "You will not be able to eliminate the bad egg until you have some general system of grading," said another member. Yet another expressed the opinion that the only way to overcome the difficulty would be to order the datestampjng of all eggs.
