BALL AT DARFIELD

Members of the Darfielcl Hibcruian Society and Children of Mary Sociality held a very successful ball in the Darfielcl Memorial Hall. Visitors were present from various parts of Canterbury. The hall had been decorated with streamers and greenery, and bowls of Iceland poppies made effective decorations for the supper tables. Much credit for the success of the ball is due to the organisers. Miss I. Stewart (president of Children of Mary Sodality) and Mr J. McLaughlin (president of the Hibernian Society). A lucky spot dance was won by Miss E. Bull and Mr R. Beauchamp (Kirwee), a statue dance by Miss Rhoda Lee and Mr A. Gallagher (Kirwoe;. and a Monte Carlo dance by Miss A. Clinton and Mr T. Clinton. Music was supplied by G. Bradford's orchestra, extras being played by Miss M. Nolan (Christchurch), Miss A. Locker (Greendale), and Mr D. Clinton (Greendale). The guests of honour were the Rev. Father J. McMonagle and the Her. Father Fogarty (Geraldkie). Representatives were present froni the following Hibernian Societies: New Hereford (Lincoln), St. Patrick's (Christchurch), and St. Matthew's (Christchurch). Messrs M. Youngman and S.
