CHRISTCHURCH YESTERDAY'S TRANSACTIONS Markets continued active on call yesterday, and prices of several stocks showed improvement. Transactions, exclusive of vestibule business, were:— Sales on 'Change

4 p.c. "B" perpetual Debentures ..100 0 0 Bonds and Bank Shares New Zealand Government 4 per cent. Stock, clue 1946, changed hands at £lO7 ss; that due 1949 at £lO9 10s, and the 1955 at £llO 12s 6d; market closing firm for each. Commercial Bank of Australia were fractionally firmer at 15s lOd, closing quotations Id on either side. Bank of Australasia were firmer on buyers' offers Jill 9s. Buyers of Commercial Bank of Sydney moved up to £l7 ss, and buyers of Bank of New South Wales to £3l 12s 6d. National Bank of New Zealand were firmer on buyers' offers 735. Miscellaneous New Zealand Insurance rose lo 62s (id and late offers of G2s failed to attract sellers. South British Insurance had business at 83s 6d. Goldsbrough,. Morts rose sharply to 31s and 30s lid, market closing 30s 9d buyers, 31s sellers. N.Z. Refrigerating fully paid remained unaltered with sellers and business at 13s (id, buyers at 18s 4d. Gear Meats were stronger on buyers' oilers 25s Cd, sellers at 2Gs 6d. Kaiapoi Woollens 7s paid moved up to 4s Bd, closing quotations 4s 5d buyers, 4s lOd sellers. New Zealand Breweries were easier with sellers at 47a lOd. Australian Glass advanced to 51s. and more were wanted at 50s 9d. Australian Iron and Steel preference were firmer with buyers and dealings at 2d Broken Hill Proprietary had dealings at 4U.s 3d, 48s lid, and 48s 9d, closing quotations 48s 8d buyers, 4fis lid sellers. A late sale of Dominion Fertilisers on Monday was reported at 19s lOd, and buyers' to-day offered 19s 9d, sellers at 20s. Dunlop Rubbers relapsed to 19s 6d, market closing Id either way. Electrolytic Zinc cum dividend were firmer with business in the ordinary at 27s 6d, and m the preference at 35s 3d. Buyers of Howard Smiths raised their bids to 15s 3d sellers at 15s 9d. Wilson's Cements were firm at 30s Id, and there were further buyers at 30s, sellers at 30s 3d. Quill, Morris (in recovered to 3s Gd, sellers staying in at that figure, buyers at 3s sd. Mining' Bell Hoopers were firm at 54d. Golden Point were firm with buyers and business at 2{d, sellers at 3d. Goldfields Dredging were steady with buvers and dealings at Is 2d, sellers at Is 2',d. King Solomons cum dividend moved up to 4s 3d, market closing id on either side. Mount Lyells were firm with dealings at 20s 3d and 20s 2d and further buyers at the lower price, sellers at 20s 4d.
