J and rayon knitters' industries by the ! convention of the United Textile ! Workers of America. The conven- I tion yesterday had voted for a ! strike in the cotton textile industry. ! employing 500,000 workers. " J Delegates of the silk and rayon , industries left to the discretion" of : the new executive committee of the United Textile Workers and the; executive committees of their own j branches the time the strikes were ! to be called. The woollen and wor- i sted and synthetic rayon v. orkers, ; however, decided to go out at. the i same time as cotton textile employ- | ees. The convention had voted to • call the cotton textile strike at 72 j hours' notice on or before September j 1. The men are seeking higher; wages and improved working condi- ' t'ions. I
