TO THE FUITOIL OK TITE Sir.—l feci I must answer not that I want to argue, nor is it that I want to take him from out of the thought he is evidently happy in._ He seems to cling to the opinions of men with big names in the world of science, and if that suits him, that is good—tor him. He seems to be very familiar with his God. Could he go so far as to describe Him? I expect he thinks of Him as an old gentleman cn a golden, throne—with "vV.J.S." playing a harp very near to Him (in the future state). I think, that if he could get away back m the past ho would find that time was <1 different thing from what its standard is to-day. So how long would be the davs it took to make n sub-human soul, for the breath of understanding to be given it? I advise "W.J.S." to read again the last letter of mine. 21 seems u queer thing to mo that in this 2000 years the man who is supposed to have a true orthodox training in Christianity, the man (generally, speaking* who pays his church dues, including missionary donations, is taught that the Christ will take away his sins, simply by the asking. Thus is created a man who is dressed according to (he present-day fashion, has a" standard education, including a smattering of science which says the great law of nature cannot be turned aside. "Not one jot or tittic shall pass away, until the law shall be fulfilled." Now, take the result of the training orthodox religion has given that man. Under the name of business, he robs wholesale: under the name of politics, he feathers his nest; under the name of disciple, he toils not, neither does he spin. He also gets a living generally for a woman and some offspring. That is all right, according to orthodoxy. As long as he upholds his church and pays his church taxes (collections and. donations) he is treated with deep respect, especially if he has wangled a "Sir," or professorship from life. The Christ turned (he money-changers out. The Christ spent three days in the Temple giving I and taking questions and answer?. The Bible is being written to-day—and the Christ is waiting to return, but only those who are "caught up in the] spirit" shall recognise Him. The law of life is the law of God. What~has orthodoxy done in the past? It not, onlv chained the Christ, but it cruci- \ fled' Him—and it goes on crucifying j Him. Every man should go to the form of religion that suits him. ! There are two wavs of reading j ' Christ taketh away the sins of the j world." The orthodox conception of the Christ taking away the conso- j quences of our sins is only the distorted idea taken up by ignorant man. The sins are taken away only by the ancient wisdom method of transmutation. The base metals must be transmuted into .gold; or, in other worte, the beasts in our nature must be overcome by the "Lamb of God." Too long has matithousht that there is free salvation, and that thus he will escape the consequences of his actions. "Not on? jot or tittle shall pass"; the gr.?at law of cause and effect must be fulfilled. Listen to this awful truth: "F.very man .shall give an account of th-' dced.= done in the body." One nf
those deeds is the deadly wrong of propagating life without thought or reference to a healthy and competent body in which it can perform the functions requisite to its advancement, which leaves the child to bear the consequences of the sins ol its parents in its own organism, lnio mav transfer the infirmity, but it cannot" change the responsibility. It is the power of Christ, the Lamb of Sacrifice, that will give salvation—but think—that means evolving into■ a golden age where the lion shall lie down with the lamb. In ether words, we ourselves will give place to the Christ in our hearts and His power of love, meekness, simplicity, faith. and understanding shall help us to overcome our animal natures. If the orthodox thought would unchain itself, there would be a fuller understanding given ta thu-m to help the world. No wonder the real Poweis has been withdrawn to a certain extent' from such cramped quarters, and the Light must be sought for outside the original channels.—Yours, etc., LEONIS.
