WALTHAM SCHOOL COMMITTEE

A meeting of the Waltham School Committee was attended by Messrs J. J. Hurley (chairman), F. Mclvor (treasurer), F. Legge (secretary), H. Penter, A. Peterson, A. Long, C. Small, and J. Morris. The headmaster 'Mr D. Brown) presented his monthly report, which showed the roll numbers to be: boys 284, girls 276, total 560. The term examination results had disclosed a very satisfactory standard of scholarship in all classes. Mr W. Doubleday tendered his resignation from the staff of the school. It was reported that during the last month 140 pupils from Waltham School had attended the Sydenham dental clinic for treatment. Mr Hurley was congratulated on his re-election on the Education Board. The committee considered ways and means of raising funds, and it was decided to hold a fair in October.
